WB delegation hails new health insurance system in Egypt

A delegation of the World Bank, headed by Rekha Menon, the World Bank’s director of health, population and nutrition in the Middle East and North Africa, visited on Friday Port Said to inspect the experimental operation of the new comprehensive health insurance project.

Received by Assistant Health Minister and the project’s chief Ahmed El Sobky, the team toured some health units and hospitals of the project.

Sobky said the delegation hailed that about 25 percent of the citizens registered on the electronic system of the project in less than one month, a matter which is considered a positive indicator for the citizens’ trust in the project.

They lauded also the level of provided services and the role of the youth who are working on the project, expressing their support for the health system.

The delegation stressed that the WB Group would transfer Egypt’s successful experience in the health sector to other countries.
