VELAYATI URGES EGYPT TO REOPEN RAFAH BORDER CROSSING

TEHRAN, July 23, — Secretary General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Ali-Akbar Velayati here on Wednesday urged the Egyptian government to reopen Rafah border crossing.

Speaking to reporters, Velayati stressed that the oppressed people of Gaza are in dire need of foodstuff and medical supplies, adding the Rafah border crossing should be reopened to allow supply of humanitarian aids to Gazans.

Velayati who also heads the Center for Strategic Research of the Expediency Council further condemned the recent Israeli atrocities in Gaza, stating that the Zionists are targeting the Palestinian civilians including women, children and the elders.

Pointing to the treatment of Takfiri extremists, wounded in Syria, in Israeli hospitals, he said this shows the Zionist regimeˈs all-out support for terrorist groups.

The Zionist regime and its allies will certainly fail in the recent war in Gaza, he said, underlining that they should accept defeat for the fourth time.
