Top Prosecutor orders probe into NZ mosques terror attack

Prosecutor General Nabil Ahmed Sadeq decided on Saturday 16/03/2019 to conduct an investigation into the terrorist attack that targeted two mosques in New Zealand’s city of Christchurch during Friday prayers, leaving scores dead and injured.

The move was taken after some Egyptian nationals were confirmed dead in the attack, the Public Prosecution Office said in a press release.

The top prosecutor has assigned the international cooperation department to compile a report including demands of the prosecution and send it to the judicial authorities concerned in New Zealand.

The statement added that the demands include providing Cairo with official documents about ongoing investigations into the incident.
