SWEDEN, FRANCE, EGYPT CALL FOR UNSC MEETING AMID ESCALATING TENSIONS IN JERUSALEM

NEW YORK, Sweden, France and Egypt Saturday called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council amid escalating tensions in Jerusalem, said diplomats.

According to Agence-France Presse (AFP), Carl Skau, Sweden’s ambassador to the UN, said that a meeting was called to “urgently discuss how calls for de-escalation in Jerusalem can be supported.”

In New York, diplomats said the United Nations Security Council would meet to discuss the situation on Monday, said Reuters.
