Supply Ministry to import 240,000 tonnes of wheat

The Ministry of Supply on Wednesday held an international tender to import 240,000 tonnes of wheat from Romania, Ukraine and Russia to produce subsidized bread in Egypt.
 
The required quantities are to be supplied from 1 to 10 September.
 
Mamdouh Abdel Fattah of the General Authority for Supply Commodities said companies Bunge and Ami-Europa will both be supplying 60,000 tonnes of Romanian wheat for US$252.12 per tonne, and US$85.12 for freight.
 
The Venus company is supplying 60,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat for US$152.25 per tonne, and US$13 for freight, and the Louis Dreyfus company is supplying 60,000 tonnes of Russian wheat for US$251.92 per tonne, on top of US$13.33 for freight.
 
The authority had last week held a tender to import 300,000 tonnes of wheat from Ukraine, Romania and Russia to be supplied from 21 to 31 August.
