Special Advisor for Children’s Issues Travels to the Middle East

Special Advisor for Children’s Issues Ambassador Susan Jacobs will visit the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Egypt from March 27-April 5.

Special Advisor Jacobs will meet with government officials and non-governmental organizations to discuss the 1980 Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. She will also discuss ways to strengthen cooperation to resolve international parental child abduction cases.

While in Qatar, Ambassador Jacobs will participate in the “Gulf Regional Seminar on Protecting the Best Interests of Children in Cross-Border Disputes.” The event will explore regional perspectives on wrongful removal of children across international borders, child protection-related Hague Conventions, and existing mechanisms to resolve cross-border family disputes.
