Sources: Number of passengers at Cairo Airport decreases

The number of passengers at Cairo Airport decreased sharply on Sunday due to the situation in Egypt. No figures concerning the travel or arrival of Egyptian or foreign figures have been released.

Informed sources at Cairo Airport said that the number of inbound and outbound passengers at most airports in Egypt has decreased. The airports were approximately 55 to 70 percent full.

A scheduled visit by Deputy Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs Bruno Archi was canceled due to the unstable situation in Egypt, according to sources.

The sources added that Egyptian and Arab airlines usually provide additional flights in the days leading up to the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, as pilgrims travel across the region.
