Sisi orders monitoring markets to secure access to commodities at high quality

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued his directives to officials to promote efforts exerted to monitor markets via tightening control over retail outlets and supporting the role of consumer protection agencies to maintain access to commodities to citizens at high quality.

Sisi’s remarks were made during his meeting on Saturday May 11,2019 with the prime minister, the Central Bank of Egypt governor, in addition to the ministers of defense, foreign affairs, petroleum, justice, supply, finance and interior.

The meeting touched on the government’s efforts to provide basic commodities required during the holy fasting month of Ramadan at affordable prices nationwide, presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.

It also tackled the latest developments with regard to upgrading the subsidy system and filtering lists of beneficiaries in a way that helps it be more efficient.

The spokesman added that the meeting discussed the ongoing efforts to attract investments to the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the current status of ports, industrial and logistics regions set up in the area.

Sisi noted that implementing more projects in the Suez Canal Economic Zone comes within the framework of the state’s efforts to push forward the development process and provide further job opportunities for the youth.

The agenda of the meeting also included the status of several national projects that are being carried out across the country.

In this regard, the president underscored the necessity of commitment to the timetables set to finalize these projects as per the best relevant international standards.
