Sisi calls for operating Port Said tunnels this month

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday 7/11/2019 followed up the progress of a strategy for upgrading the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).

This came during a meeting with SCZone Chairman Mohamed Yahiya Zaki.

Sisi ordered the official opening and operation of two recently built tunnels in Port Said within this month to facilitate the passage of goods between eastern and western parts of canal cities.

Sisi underlined the need to maintain improvement efforts at the SCZone.

He called for high-level coordination among all relevant state institutions to ensure the success of the authority’s under-construction projects, which would lure various investments and create more jobs.

Zaki posted the president on a plan to hone skills of the authority’s human cadres, the financial position of several investment projects and efforts underway to boost investment revenues and improve resource management.

He also touched upon the SCZone future investment plan, the strategic vision for Port Said and Ain Sokhna industrial zones and several projects meant to provide direct and indirect job opportunities and transfer port operation technologies.
