Prosecutors investigate policemen over alleged molestation

New Cairo prosecution has asked for the names of policemen at a checkpoint on the Ring Road where a police major had been accused of molesting a woman at gunpoint.
Two police assistants who are thought to have witnessed the incident were also summoned for interrogation.
The employee at a private company told interrogators she was in the car with her boss on their way back home via Cairo-Ain Sokhna Road when the incident occurred.
She said the officer took her in her own car and drove to a mountainous area where he molested her for nearly half an hour at gunpoint.
The victim’s companion, who interrogators named Mahmoud, said they were on their way back home when the officer stopped them and asked for the vehicle’s license. Upon finding that the license had expired, Mahmoud said the officer searched the car and their cell phones before ordering him to the police car.
Mahmoud said the officer got into his car with his colleague. His colleague later returned to him at the police car and collapsed. He added that he learned from the victim that the officer had sexually molested her at a nearby mountainous area.
