PM gives directives to provide all tools to develop cotton gins

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli gave on Thursday directives to provide all tools required to develop cotton gins across Egypt, especially in Faiyum governorate.

The premier gave the remarks during a tour of cotton gins in Faiyum accompanied by the ministers of local development, health, agriculture and public business.

Cotton ginning is a strategic industry and the State is keen on restructuring all companies operating in this sector to serve national development goals and create new jobs, the premier said.

Madbouli listened to a presentation on the two cotton gins in Faiyum, one of them was closed for technical considerations and the other one is new and about to be opened.

Chairman of Cotton and Textile Industries Holding Co. Ahmed Moustafa said 11 cotton gins are being developed across the nation to be able to gin 4 million kantars of cotton by 2021.

As for the new cotton gin in Faiyum, he said it cost 250 million pounds and is being built at an area of ten feddans along Faiyum/Beni Suef road with a production capacity of 5 tons/hour.
