Minister: Awqaf ministry attaches importance to Holy Quran

Minister of Awqaf Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said on Saturday 23/09/2019 the ministry attaches great importance to the Quran, asserting the importance of truly understanding the teachings of the holy book.

The minister made the remarks as part of a speech he delivered on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli at the opening session of the 26th international Holy Quran competition.

The one-week contest, held at the headquarters of Al Awqaf academy in Giza’s 6th of October city, is organized by the ministry under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

As many as 77 contestants and judges from 51 countries participate in the event, including 60 competitors from various countries of the world in addition to six Egyptians.

During the session, the minister, along with Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam, thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for sponsoring the event.
