min.: hearings at courts of first instance continue to be put on hold

Justice Minister Amr Marawan decided Wednesday 29/4/2020 to continue to put on hold hearings in most of cases examined by courts of first instance.

The decision of a further postponement of much of the courts’ work in a measure meant to protect the public against the spread of coronavirus, will be effective as of Sunday but it will not be applied to lawsuits of alimony and property guardianship, in addition to decisions issued by the public prosecution to hand over a child to his legal guardian or provide housing for a divorced mother who has custody of a child.

The minister also ordered coordination with the Cairo Court of Appeal regarding cassation appeals considered by misdemeanor courts.

Under the decision, public notary offices will start to document car contracts and powers of attorney on that score as of Sunday.
