Marawan heads to Geneva for UNHRC meetings

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Omar Marawan left Cairo on Sunday 10/11/2019 for Geneva to attend the UN Human Rights Council’s (UNHRC) Universal Periodic Review session on Egypt, slated for Wednesday.

Head of National Council for Human Rights Mohamed Faeek accompanied minister Marawan to the UNHRC session.

The government, in preparation for the Geneva session, held a series of follow-up meetings with a number of ministries and civil society institutions to review the country’s efforts in the human rights domain, affirmed minister Marawan.

The Egyptian government adheres to its international human rights commitments, Marawan said, noting that it implemented several recommendations adopted by the previous session in 2014.
