Mamish – 66 Vessels Transited Suez Canal Carrying 3.4 Million Tons

Head of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish said that cargo weights that passed through the Suez Canal on Saturday 30082014 hit a record of over three million tons.

Sixty-six vessels transited the Suez Canal, carrying a total of cargo of 3.4 million tons on Saturday compared with fifty-six vessels carrying a total of cargo of 3.482 million tons on Friday.

Mamish pointed out that the largest container ship in the world, which is the Danish giant container ship named “MADISON MAERSK”, with a cargo of 200 tons, a length of 400 meters and a width of 59 meters, has transited the Suez Canal today coming from Morocco and heading to Malaysia.
