Maimed bodies found near al-Nahda Square

Two bodies bearing signs of torture were found near al-Nahda Square, a few meters from Cairo University, where supporters of deposed president Mohamed Morsy have been staging a sit-in demanding his reinstatement, according to a security source.

Ambulance cars took the bodies to a hospital, the source added in a statement on Wednesday, noting that efforts are underway to identify them. The same source added that three injured people were also taken to hospital for treatment.

Giza prosecutors, headed by Hatem Fadel, ordered on Tuesday that autopsies be conducted on the bodies of seven people who were killed in clashes between Morsy’s backers and residents of the area near al-Nahda Square late Monday.

Prosecutors, who headed to Um al-Masriyeen and Qasr al-Aini hospitals to examine the bodies, found that the victims were shot in the chest and in the head, and that they had bruises on other parts of their bodies.
