KENYAN REVENUE OFFICERS INTERCEPT DRUGS DISGUISED AS VITAMIN TABLETS

NAIROBI– Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers have intercepted a consignment of narcotics disguised as vitamin tablets at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) here.

The tablets consisted of cartridges filled with cannabis oil and five sachets of hashish each weighing one gramme. The narcotics had been sent through a courier service provider and had been declared as candy.

The drugs were seized by KRA enforcement officers as they carried out a routine check at the cargo centre of the airport). The discovery came after subjecting the package to scanning and intrusive verification.

Samples of the narcotics were forwarded to the Customs service laboratory and the tests indicated the presence of banned substances. The consignment has now been handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Unit for further investigations.
