Interior min. checks security preparations ahead of youth forum

Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik on Thursday made a field tour in the southern governorate of Aswan to check security arrangements ahead of the Arab-African Youth Forum, due to kick off on Saturday and run for two days.

He inspected several checkpoints and security units in Aswan city, ordering to take all security measures required to provide security during the two-day forum.

Tawfik praised full coordination with the armed forces to guarantee security at the forum.

The minister held a meeting with security leaderships following his tour to review the comprehensive security plan for this event.

The forum will celebrate Egypt’s 2019 AU chairmanship.

Its agenda covers several issues, including “World Youth Forum: New Horizons”, the future of scientific research and health care services, the impact of financial technology and innovation on Africa and the region, and the Nile Valley as a corridor for African and Arab integration.

Participants will tour Aswan’s tourist sites on Monday, the forum’s third and last day.
