IMF: Egypt enjoys highest growth in MENA

Egypt currently enjoys the highest growth rate among the MENA region and emerging economies, the director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department said Wednesday.

Jihad Azour also praised Egypt’s commitment to its reform program over the past three years, describing the country as one of the leading investment magnets in the region.

Azour’s remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and governor of the Central Bank of Egypt Tarek Amer.

He said the recent economic and legislative reforms had made the country a favorite destination for investment despite economic challenges facing world economy.

Madbouli said the administration was more resolved to go on in its cooperation with IMF to preserve the pace of the progress and achievements.
