Foreign Minister discusses bilateral relations and issues of common interest with Japanese counterpart

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on August 29th with his Japanese counterpart Taro Kono in Yokohama, Japan, to discuss means to boost bilateral relations, and exchange views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Counselor Ahmed Hafez stated that part of the talks focused on joint coordination on the work of the ongoing summit of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), which took place on August 28-30 in Yokohama, under the joint chairmanship of the Egyptian President of the Republic, in his capacity as the current African Union Chair, and Japan’s Prime Minister.

Shoukry and Kono also reviewed ways to enhance the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Japan, and exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
