FM voices Egypt’s support to peace, stability in South Sudan

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry reiterated on Monday 11/3/2019 Egypt’s support to peace and stability in South Sudan.

The top diplomat made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation of the South Sudanese National Pre-Transitional Committee (NPTC), under Tut Kew Gatluak.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments in South Sudan, as well as means of boosting bilateral relations in different fields.

During the meeting, Shoukry expressed pleasure that Egypt was chosen as an observer state in the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC), which monitors the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan, said Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez.

“Egypt is ready to transfer its expertise to South Sudan in the field of drafting constitutions and laws,” Shoukry said.

He also voiced Egypt’s continued support for the South Sudanese people in all fields.

Gatluak, for his part, expressed his country’s appreciation for efforts exerted by Egypt to support peace and stability in South Sudan.
