FM, former US congressman discuss bilateral ties

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry conferred on Thursday with Steve Israel, director of the Cornell University’s Institute of Politics and Global Affairs and former congressman, on various aspects of the Egyptian-American relations.

Talks covered the necessity that US administration should continue its support to Egypt, as the bilateral ties already were vital to both countries, Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

Shoukry briefed Israel on the latest progresses achieved by Egypt on different fields, especially the political, economic, social, and legislative ones.

He expounded to US former congressman President’s Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s initiative, aimed at reconsidering the law regulating NGOs activities and the country’s efforts to empower the societies in the country.

Israel expressed his appreciation to the developments seen in Egypt, considering them as a model to stability in the country.
