FM: Egypt keen on boosting ties with Burundi

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that Egypt is keen on reinforcing ties with Burundi at all levels.

Shoukry’s remarks came during his meeting with his Burundian counterpart Ezekiel Nibigira on the sidelines of the preparatory meetings for the 12th exceptional session of the African Union (AU) summit in Niger.

Shoukry lauded growing cooperation between the two countries during the meeting, Foreign Ministry’s Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

The two ministers discussed means of boosting bilateral ties and shed light on the importance of supporting the energy and agriculture sectors in Burundi.

The talks also tackled the latest regional developments, such as conditions in Somalia, and cooperation among the Nile Basin countries.
