Egypt’s Cube-Sat to be launched from Japan today

Egypt will launch its Cube-Sat into its orbit later on Wednesday from Japan’s International Space Station, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced.

The satellite which is 1 kg in mass will be used in agricultural and geographical fields as well as in other development-related projects, the ministry said in a statement.

The satellite was completely designed at the Egyptian Space Agency by Egyptian engineers, the statement read.

The Cube-Sat is one of the satellites made as part of the Egypt Knowledge and Technology Alliance project funded by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in cooperation with Egyptian research academies and institutes as well as industrial sector.
