EGYPTIAN DOCTORS ARRIVE IN ANGOLA TO TREAT CONGOLESE REFUGEES

LUANDA, A team of five Egyptian doctors have arrived in Angola to provide medical services for refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) who have crossed the border into Lunda Norte province in northern Angola.

The Egyptian Embassy in Luanda said in a statement Monday that the doctors were despatched here by the Coptic Orthodox Church of Egypt and represent the St. Paul Medical Services Organization of the Church.

The doctors arrived in Luanda Sunday and have left for Lunda Norte where they will work directly under the Ministry of Health of Angola and the the Egyptian Embassy in Angola, represented by Health Minister Luis Sambo and Ambassador Khalid Abdel Rahman Hassan respectively.

The Embassy statement said the the medical mission was an opportunity to strengthen relations between the two countries. It added that the St. Paul Medical Services Organization had already supported humanitarian projects in other African countries such as South Sudan and Malawi.
