Egyptian, Armenian FMs discuss bilateral ties, regional issues

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had a phone call on Wednesday 21/8/2019 with his Armenian counterpart Zohrab Mnatsakanyan to discuss a host of regional issues of mutual interest, in addition to bilateral ties.

In statements, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said that the two ministers stressed the importance of boosting cooperation and exchanging visits between Cairo and Yerevan.

They also agreed on working together to hold the Egyptian-Armenian Committee’s meeting soon to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

Egypt is looking forward to finalizing current negotiations to set up a free trade zone between Egypt and the Eurasian Economic Union in light of Egypt’s current presidency of the African Union, the spokesman said.

They also stressed the necessity of promoting political consultations and continuing coordination during the coming period, the spokesman added.
