Egypt: Urgent Measures to Be Taken to Maintain Archaeological Buildings – Cabinet

The cabinet decided on Wednesday 13/7/2016 to form a ministerial committee to conduct a complete counting of archaeological palaces, houses and Islamic buildings in order to take urgent measures to maintain them and to determine required funds to restore them.

The panel will comprise the ministries of culture, planning, tourism, housing, antiquities, finance and international cooperation.

Upon the decision, the planned team will contract a consulting firm to offer proposals for how to make use of these ancient sites.

How to run and maintain them in view of their historical heritage will be also examined.

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail asserted that the State was always keen on protecting archaeological buildings nationwide.
