Egypt: Presidential Decree Extending State of Emergency in Areas in North Sinai for Three Months

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued on Wednesday a presidential decree extending the state of emergency in several areas in North Sinai for three months as of April 29, 2016.

The areas include an area from Tal Rafah in the east to Oja area in the west as well as Gabal el Halal and the coastal area until the international borders in Rafah.

The aforementioned areas will be under a state of emergency from 7pm to 6 am, the decree read.

However, Arish city, its inlet from the west and the international road will be under curfew from 1am to 5 am, according to the decree.

Under the decree, the Armed Forces and Police authority will take all needed measures to counter terror and its funding, maintain security and protect people and public property.

Anyone violating the presidential decree will be jailed, the decree said.
