Egypt Celebrates The International Day of Museums

Culture Open its museums for free , celebrating the International Day of Museums

Minister of Culture Dr. Enas Abdel-Dayem decided to open the doors of all museums of the ministry free of charge to the Egyptians on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Museums on Saturday morning 17 May.

Dr. Khaled Sorour, Head of the Plastic Arts Sector, said that the Minister of Culture has set up cultural and artistic activities on this occasion to promote the soft power of culture and arts of Egypt .

It is noteworthy that the International Council of Museums specified the International Day of Museums in 1977 , considering 18 May of each year as a day , for the world , to celebrate the importance of museums as an educational and cultural role and to allow museums professionals to communicate with the public and drew attention to the challenges facing museums and also to recall the importance of museums as intermediaries for strengthening human ties and community development.
