EGYPT CALLS ON ISRAEL TO STOP VIOLENCE IN EAST JERUSALEM

CAIRO, Egypt, Egypt demanded Israel to instantly stop its violence against Palestinians in East Jerusalem, where three Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli forces, during protests on Friday.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said, in a statement, that, Egypt is concerned over the consequences of the Israeli escalation, expressing resentment at the Israeli excessive use of force, against Palestinians in East Jerusalem and areas adjacent to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Muslim’s third holiest site.

Egypt also stressed the necessity that, Israel should respect sacredness of religious sites, and the right of the Palestinians, to freely and safely perform their religious obligations.

Palestinians has called for a day of rage, protesting against Israel’s new security measures, taken at the entrances of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, including the installing of metal detectors and cameras.

Moreover, Palestinians were further angered, Friday, after Israel barred Palestinian men under 50, from access to the mosque for Friday prayers.

Israeli security forces fired rubber bullets and stun grenades, at Palestinian protesters, as clashes erupted outside the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, and the West Bank cities of Ramallah, Hebron, Bethlehem, Salfit and Nablus.

At least 200 Palestinians were also injured during the clashes, Palestinian medical sources said.
