EGYPT AND FRANCE CONDUCT JOINT NAVAL EXERCISE

CAIRO,Vessels of the Egyptian navy and French navy are holding a joint exercise of

“Cleopatra 2017”? hosted by Egypt.

The joint exercise will last for several days in the Egyptian territorial waters in the Mediterranean and Red Sea.

The joint exercise comes in the framework of the strategic and military cooperation between the two countries.

Various naval units and Mistral-class helicopter carriers from both countries are participating in “Cleopatra 2017”? including F-16s and other fighter aircrafts.

The exercise also includes the planning and management of joint defensive combat operations, the reception and departure of helicopters from the roofs of the units, training on securing naval units using air defense weapons, and the maritime landing of personnel and equipment on the coast.

The aim of the training is to transfer and exchange training experiences between the forces and to ensure their ability to manage joint tasks in cooperation with friendly forces in accordance with the latest systems and the modern maritime fighting methods.
