Egypt Ambassador tells Berri government must continue working (National News Agency Lebanon)

July 30, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad Badreddine Zayed, on Thursday underlined that the Lebanese government must continue working, following his meeting with House Speaker, Nabih Berri, at Ain-el-Tineh.

The pair discussed during their meeting most recent developments in Lebanon and the broader Arab region.

“There was full agreement with Speaker Berri on the necessity of carrying on the work of the government. Amid the current regional juncture, it is unreasonable to block the work of the Lebanese institutions, because the circumstances are very critical and difficult. Therefore, this national consensus government must continue assuming its mission. Its persistence is important on both the local and regional levels,” the envoy told reporters.

Zayed has earlier presented Berri with an invitation by Egypt’s Abdul Fattah al-Sisi to attend the inauguration of the Suez Canal’s new project.

“We do rely on the wisdom of all the Lebanese parties, as well as on their ability to overcome the current crisis. Dialogue is the key means to solve all the problems,” the diplomat concluded.

Separately, Berri welcomed Head of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, accompanied by Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad Fathali.

Talks touched on an array of fresh developments in the region.

Araki, also a top adviser of Iran Supreme leader, indicated the meeting featured high on the necessity to step up Islamic unity in order to close ranks among the Muslims of the world, in addition to the salience of the Palestinian Cause.

“We also discussed the fresh Iranian nuclear deal,” Araki added.

Afterwards, Berri met with Minister of Public Health, Wael Abu Faour, in presence of Minister of Finance, Ali Hassan Khalil.

Conferees reviewed the current general situation.
