EGYPT, ALGERIA SEEK TO HOLD JOINT HIGHER COMMITTEE MEETINGS SOON

ALGIERS, May 30– Egypt and Algeria discussed holding joint higher committee meetings as soon as possible to develop bilateral cooperation.

This came during a meeting between Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy and Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal here, said spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Badr Abdel Aati.

Fahmy is currently visiting Algeria to lead Egypt’s delegation to the 17th meeting of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

The meeting tackled the situation in Libya, preparations for the ministerial meeting of Libya’s neighbors and efforts to control borders between Libya and its neighbors.

Talks also tackled the Syrian crisis and reaching a political solution to the three-year conflict in Syria in a way that meets the aspirations of Syrians in setting up a democratic regime, the spokesman said.

The two sides also discussed the implementation of Egypt’s roadmap for the future.
