EGYPT: 44 INJURED IN PETROCHEMICAL FIRE IN ALEXANDRIA

ALEXANDRIA (EGYPT), Ministry of Health and Population announced that 44 persons were injured at a big fire broke out at a petrochemical company in Alexandria next to the desert road links the city with Cairo.

Initial investigation into the accident revealed that the fire started when a container exploded.

Dr. Ahmed Al Anasry, head of the Egyptian Ambulance Organization, said that 25 vehicles were dispatched to the scene within five minutes of receiving call on the incident.

Dr. Khalid Mujahid, a spokesman for the Health Ministry, said that two person were hospitalized following light to moderate burns while six others were admitted to hospital due to complicated burns.

Mujahid said that all hospitals in Alexandria are on alert to receive the injureds.
