Cairo, WHO discuss transferring Egypt’s medical experience to African states

Minister of Health Hala Zayed discussed with Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus means of fostering cooperation between Cairo and the WHO to support health system in African states.

The meeting, held at the WHO headquarters in Geneva, took up Egypt’s leading experience in detecting and curing Hepatitis C and non-communicable diseases, Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed said in a statement Thursday.

The two sides discussed the possibility of transferring Egypt’s successful experience to several African states in line with Cairo’s chairmanship of the African Union in 2019.

On that score, the spokesman said Egypt will dispatch medical teams to African countries with the aim of curing Hepatitis C patients there.

Meanwhile, Ghebreyesus lauded Egypt’s current presidential initiatives to upgrade health system.
