Cabinet denies shortage in diabetes, hypertension medicines

The cabinet’s media center on Thursday denied reports about a severe shortage in diabetes and hypertension medicines at pharmacies.

In a press release, the center said it has contacted the Ministry of Health and Population, which categorically refuted these reports, saying there is no shortage in the medicines of diabetes and hypertension at markets.

The stock of these drugs is sufficient for six months, the ministry added.

Such rumors are meant to stir public opinion and raise the concern of citizens, the ministry noted.

In this context, the ministry said the Pharmaceutical Inspection Department is conducting inspections on all pharmacies to spot and handle any shortage in drugs.

The ministry appealed to different mass media outlets and social media users to review its periodic bulletin before spreading any news about medicine shortage.
