Berri, Mattarella tackle current developments

Speaker of the House Nabih Berri met at his residence in Ain Tineh with Italian President Sergio Mattarella, whereby they broached most recent developments in Lebanon and the broad region, in addition to bilateral relations.

Talks also reportedly dwelt on the role of UNIFIL in south Lebanon and the Syrian refugees’ pressing crisis.

President Mattarella was accompanied by an Italian delegation comprising Italian Defense Minister Roberta Pinotti, Italian Army Commander Claudio Graziano, other senior Italian officials, and Italian Ambassador to Lebanon Massimo Marutti.

The meeting took place in the presence of Vice Prime Minister, National Defense Minister Samir Moqbel.

Earlier, Speaker Berri met with Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabil, and Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, in the presence of Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammed Badr Eddin Zayed, and Emigrants’ Director General Haitham Jumaa. Talks reportedly touched on cooperation between Lebanon and Egypt and issues of mutual concern.
