ARAB PARLIAMENT URGES WORLD TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMBATING TERRORISM

CAIRO, The Arab Parliament on Thursday urged the international community to shoulder its responsibility toward combating extremism and terrorism and standing on the side of justice for sake of the Arabs’ top cause, Palestine.

The parliament, in a statement marking the International Day of Democracy falling on September 15, affirmed resolve for attaining goals of democracy and shura (consultation) on basis of its constituent system.

Growth of terrorist groups and entities aim at jeopardizing security of many states including Arab countries, it said, noting that this problem led to complicating problems such as the refugees and resulted in death and displacement of many people.

The international community, the Arab Parliament urged, must seek solidarity in the face of such desperate bids to undermine social fabrics of nations, with aim of promoting tolerance and dialogue, which constitute bases for international charters.

The parliament lauded Arab states’ efforts for standing against and clamping down on terrorist groups, namely the so-called Islamic State.
