AL-EU Summit’s final communique covers strategic issues of common concern – presidential spokesman

Presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said on Monday 25/2/2019 the final communique of the Arab League-European Union Summit, earlier concluded in Egypt’s Sharm El Sheikh, covered the most important strategic issues of common concern.

In a statement, Rady added that the communique tackled the Arab-European partnership, mechanisms to boost cooperation in various fields, ways to face common regional and international challenges and the forthcoming 2022 summit in Brussels.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi delivered the final communique, which focused on the value of the first AL-EU Summit in terms of bringing the visions closer in the framework of efforts to reach a common strategic vision towards strategic points of contact between the Arab and European sides, the spokesman said.

Speeches delivered by Arab and European delegations in the summit’s second day stressed the need to promote the existing mechanisms of partnership between the two sides, he added.

The speeches reviewed the most important challenges and opportunities and showed each country’s clear views towards a number of common regional threats and ways to address them, including terrorism, illegal migration and conflicts in the region, he further added.
