African FMs warp up Executive Council meetings in Addis Ababa

The African foreign ministers wrapped up on Saturday meetings of the 34th ordinary session of the African Union’s Executive Council.

The resolutions issued during the session will be raised to the AU summit that will kick off on Sunday to be endorsed by the summit.

With the participation of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in the two-day meetings, the foreign ministers discussed a report on the 37th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives’ Committee that was held on January 15-16.

They also mulled a report by the AU Commission on the humanitarian situation in Africa. During the meeting, Egypt was chosen to host the African Space Agency.

Other reports issued by the specialized and subcommittees of the AU Executive Council were also discussed.

The ministers discussed as well a draft treaty for the establishment of the African Medicines Agency, a draft statute of the African Audiovisual and Cinema Commission and a draft statute of the African Union International Center for Girls and Women Education in Africa.
