Unprecedented Turnout for Egyptian Voters in Milan

Unprecedented turnout for Egyptian voters was reported in the Egyptian Consulate in Milan that houses a large number of Egyptian workers.

Egypt’s Consul Ali el-Halwani said long lines of Egyptian voters are seen outside the consulate headquarters, threefold the number of voters in the January Constitution vote.

Presidential elections for Egyptian expatriates started earlier in the day and are to run for four days from 9:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m.

Voters will have to choose between Nasserist politician Hamdeen Sabahy, represented by the eagle symbol on ballots, and former Minister of Defense Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, represented by the star.

Consular work was not suspended but a separate place inside the consulate was provided so that staffers can do their job properly.
