Sisi Reviews WB’s Participation in Reclamation of 4 Million Feddans

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held a meeting on Monday 2992014 with Agriculture Minister Adel al-Beltagi to discuss the ongoing negotiations with the World Bank to contribute to agricultural development projects in Egypt aiming at the reclamation of four million feddans.

Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said the bank is ready to provide $ 500 million to Egypt to implement these projects, including the development project of field irrigation.

The minister reviewed the executive steps of the first phase of agricultural development projects aiming at reclaiming one million feddans.

Sisi underlined the importance of choosing the best areas for reclamation, stressing the necessity for drilling wells at the lowest cost.

He demanded the establishment of factories for agricultural products and packaging.

Sisi called for participation of all segments of society in these projects, mainly youths.

As for fisheries, Beltagi said his ministry is currently working on drafting a plan for developing fisheries.

At the end of the meeting, Beltagi presented the outcome of international meeting held in New York about the impact of climate on the genetic origins in the world.
