Sisi Invites Italy PM to Visit Egypt

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has received a phone call from Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and invited him to visit Egypt.

Spokesman at the presidency Ihab Badawi said the Italian Prime Minister has voiced his desire to visit Egypt.

He also appreciated the Egyptian role in the Middle East and its initiative to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Italy holds the rotating presidency of the European Union.

Badawi quoted the president as terming the Palestinian case vital for Egypt and the Arab world.

Sisi briefed Renzi on the Egyptian efforts with all regional and international parties to reach a ceasefire for sparing the Palestinian blood.

Egypt has also exerted humanitarian efforts to help the Palestinians in Gaza including opening the border crossing for those injured and the provision of food and medical aid to the Palestinians.
