Pope Tawadros Urges Citizens to Partake in Presidential Polls

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese has urged the Egyptian people to cast their ballots on the second day of the presidential vote.

The participation in the presidential polls is a national duty, Tawadros said in a phone call with CBC channel. He extended thanks to army and police forces for securing voters during the polls.

Commenting on bids to prevent Copts from partaking in the vote, Pope Tawadros said that “army and police prevent such bids.”

He called on media outlets to urge citizens to partake in the polls.
