PM – Protest Law Issued in Special Circumstances

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab said on Saturday that the anti-protest law was issued under very tough circumstances when there were no other options.

“Everything is subject to discussion and amendment,” Mahlab said during an interview with a number of media and press figures aired on Tahrir satellite channel.

“The protest law is not a holy book and could be amended through discussion,” he said.

The prime minister revealed that a law on sexual harassment is being prepared and would be released soon.

He lauded the role of the army and police, saying that the interior ministry and its men shoulder unbearable burdens.

Mahlab noted that talking about heading the government after the election was premature, stressing that his sole mission was to complete a road map.
