PM, Garpad Discuss Agriculture Strategy

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab held on Thursday a meeting with the board of directors of the General Authority for Reconstruction Projects and Agricultural Development (GARPAD).

The meeting touched upon the 2030 sustainable agricultural development strategy. It includes achieving economic and social development, improving the living standards of the poor people and developing the agricultural and fishing sectors.

Mahlab also stressed the importance of paying more attention to desert backyard villages to be turned into cooperative villages in which industries and activities may be held for benefiting its residents.

The strategy stressed the importance of having a national vision to make capital out of water in the fields of agronomy and animal and fish production via applying a national program for developing the irrigation steps and working on using the expected increase of water resources hitting 13.5 cubic billion meters in reclaiming the arable land.
