NCW Hails Women Participation in Presidential Election

The National Council for Women (NCW) lauded the high turnout of women who cast their ballots in the first day of the presidential election.

In statements on Monday, the NCW chief, Mervat Talawi, said that the participation of women in the polls shows that they believe that their role is essential in building the society during this critical phase in the history of the homeland.

Talawi called on women who could not cast their ballots in the first day of the polls to vote in the second day, adding that women have a great role to play by encouraging their families to be politically active.

Terrorism would not affect the participation of women in the presidential polls, she said, adding that the presence of police women reassures the female voters.
