Kasr El-Nil Misdemeanor Annulled the Prison Sentence Issued Against 15 ‘Ultras Revolutionary’ Members and Imposed a 50,000 Egp Fine [press release]

Today, Kasr El-Nil Misdemeanor Court accepted the appeal brought in favor of all the defendants in the case known in media as “Ultras Revolutionary”, and rescinded the first degree two-year in prison sentence. The court, however, re-imposed a 50,000 EGP fine on each of them.

Court of First Instance convicted the defendants and sentenced them to two years in jail besides a 50,000 EGP fine. As well, it put all the defendants on probation for an equal period.

On January 15, security forces apprehended 15 “Ultras Revolutionary” members from “El-Horaya” park in Cairo. They were accused of demonstrating without a permit, and damaging public peace, and attacking police forces.
