Jail Terms for Violating Electioneering Regulations – Spokesman

Spokesman for a technical committee in charge of amending the exercising of political rights law and the House of Representatives law Mahmoud Fawzi said that the panel has introduced some new penalties to the law regulating the exercise of political rights pertaining to violating regulations of electioneering campaign.

He said anyone who reports false news about the elections will be subject to jail terms, noting that candidates who violate the regulations of electioneering will be fined between EGP 100,000 to 1,000,000.

The spokesman added that the law gives the Presidential Elections Committee the right to monitor the electioneering campaigns.
