Industry Minister Stresses Importance of Energy Rationalization for Development of Egypt

Minister of Trade, Industry, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Mounir Fakhry Abdel-Nour said Friday 21112014 that diversification of energy sources and development of new and renewable energy need a long time where the petroleum companies seek to increase gas and petroleum production at a time the energy ministry encourages development of renewable energy sources, but these measures takes time and we should rationalize consumption of energy in our homes and plants for the continuation of production and growth.

This came in the minister’s speech during his participation in the activities of the Euro-Egyptian forum on energy at Aquarium Grotto Garden in Zamalek.

The activities of the forum will be attended by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab, Minister of Petroleum Sherif Ismaeil, Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker and James Moran, the EU ambassador to Egypt.

Minister Abdel-Nour stressed that the non-existence of energy means non-existence of industry, development or job opportunities. He noted that without energy, Egypt will face several social problems.

Abdel-Nour thanked the European Union for organizing this event which aims at spreading awareness of energy rationalization and utilization of renewable energy as well as development of its sources.
